Kuala Lumpur 吉隆玻: KID 紀王 Sake Pairing Lunch for RM188++ || Sushi Ryu 龍

Sushi Ryu is located at the Platinum Park, Tower 1. The Google map leaded me to the Naza tower which costs me RM 16 parking fees for about 3 hours plus. Luckily, the Platinum Park Tower 1 was just located opposite the road. Sushi Ryu shares the same tower as the Lumi cafe, by heading up the escalator to level 2, here comes the entrance of the Sushi Ryu on the left. For the very first time visiting Sushi Ryu since their opening. Came across this event through their Instagram advertisement, quickly called up and book myself a counter seat ! Going all alone this round as everyone is not free to accompany me on a working Monday afternoon. Too bad, I'm really getting ready to be drunk. Have been eyeing to try this KID Sake for the longest time and now finally had the chance to try few of their series, really getting excited about it. The KID 紀王 Sake Pairing Lunch menu, will be trying out their Daiginjyo, Junmai Daiginjyo, Tokubetsu Junmai Omachi, Junmai Ginjyo, Tokubetsu Ju...

Kyoto 京都: Sushi Azabu Higashiyama || Higashiyama

Tucked away in the beautiful, lush greenery of The Sodoh Higashiyama Kyoto, there finds the Azabu, an affordable gem that puts a modern, seasonal twist on traditional Edomae-style sushi. The vibe inside beautifully blends classic Japanese aesthetics with a modern touch. Sushi Azabu offers great value omakase lunch courses. I knew I have to keep an eye for it when the reservation opens. And yes, I secured my seat and had their Kyoto Gourmet Tour 2025 Autumn course. It was the autumn special limited course priced at 5000yen only with 13 items. It includes an appetizer, sashimi, nigiri sushi, local seasonal dishes, bara chirashi don and also miso soup. The restaurant has a gorgeous single-slab wooden counter that can fits 8 persons only and 2 tables that can be turned into semi-private spaces. The chef will design the ingredients used for the menu and changes constantly according to what's fresh, availability and in season. The chefs here are incredibly passionate about ...

Kyoto 京都: Fujioka Shuzo / Sakagura Bar En || Fushimi

Fujioka Shuzo is a boutique brewery with a remarkable story of revival. They are once a large-scale producer, the company then nearly went bankrupt due to a shrinking market, uniform sake styles and the loss of their Toji (head brewer). However, in the early 2000s, they reinvented themselves by shifting to limited-run, exceptional craft sake. Instead of scaling up to meet demand, they chose to remain small, focused on their craft and deeply rooted in Kyoto's Fushimi district. Today, visitors are welcomed to the brewery by a traditional cedar ball ( sugidama ) and a peaceful water feature. It is famous for their Sookuu (蒼空) sake brand which means the blue sky. Here lies a little bar called the "Bar En", an intimate tasting room featuring a 6 seats low bar facing the brewing area and a cozy 4 seats tatami table. Surrounded by rough-hewn wood and vintage brewing gear, it is an easy place to lose track of time. We grabbed a seat at the Bar En and kicked off our tasting wit...
