Quite excited about the class as it was my first time joining such whisky blending class. The class was conducted by Ms Nicole Cruickshank. She is the Chivas Regal Brand Ambassador.
She is very professional in tasting the profile of the blended whisky you tends to blend in more like creamy, citrus, fruity, smoky and floral. I love smoky but I did not put too much of the smoky profile into my blended whisky as according to Ms Nicole, it might somehow too overpowering spoiling the other taste profile.
I am more into the creamy, citrus and fruity profile. The floral profile is not to my liking, however, it might still need to be added some into the whisky if not, the whisky might not be able to known as the "blended whisky". "Blended whisky" must have those 5 profiles, the difference between each blended whisky is the volume of each taste profile are different. Some might have higher fruity or creamy taste profile. It depends on how the masters need the blended whisky to be the way it is.
Chivas whisky highball was served before the class starts.
It comes together with some sourdough breads and butter.
The introduction of each Chivas whisky taste profile.
5 respective taste profile glasses were prepared together with a beaker and stirrer for the mixed later. One glass of 12 years and 18 years Chivas whisky each was prepared for tasting as well.
As soon as all the guests have arrived, the class starts to begin.
Ms Nicole guided and shared us about the history of whisky and how's the blended whisky comes from and how it was made. The class was very informative and exciting.
Let's get started !
I was like a scientist measuring each of every taste profile that were used in my blended whisky.
Recorded every drops of the taste profile putting in to my blended whisky. So precisely. Ms Nicole was shocked to see. She got to taste every taste profile that I have inserted in to my blended whisky. She even know that I never include floral taste profile in my blended whisky and told me to put even a little amount of it so that it can be called as the "blended whisky". Tasting each and every taste profile was so much fun. I almost got drunk before my blended whisky was even born. LOL.
My blended whisky was done!
After the blended whisky class was almost done, the aperitif foods were served to all the guests. There were lots of foods to savour.
After the master blend class, there was even a certificate given to each and every guests who participated in the class.
Thank you Ms Nicole for the awesome whisky blended class. It was so much fun and exciting!
The event venue was held at the Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.
