Kuala Lumpur 吉隆玻: New Restaurant Fook Kee 福记炖汤补品小炒 || Kampung Cheras Baru

Father's day is here! Dated my parents if they are free for dinner and so here we are for some local Chinese foods. This place is really a hidden gem ! It is located nearby some kampung housing area, therefore the parking space is very very limited. We did not make any reservation for the dinner, therefore we were trying our luck to go as early to get a table, furthermore, it was a father's day weekend surely most of the restaurants were full with people for celebrations !

We arrived at around 630pm and yes, the restaurant was fully booked ! No table for us. The guy patiently told us to wait for a while if there was any table finished eating then we can take that table. Not like those many of the restaurants talk so arrogantly no table and ask to leave and cannot come in with no booking made.

We got our table after 30 minutes wait and we quickly placed our orders. The guy recommended us few of their signature dishes which we cannot get the taste of it from any other restaurants outside which was the salty shrimp pork belly 咸虾花腩 and Vietnamese-style steam fish 越南蒸鱼. First thing first, I must order the coconut chicken soup! It caught my eyes when I was first introduced to this restaurant.
This coconut chicken soup was soooo goood, fragrant, sweet that packed with lots of Chinese herbals, chicken, goji and coconut flesh. The soup was still pipping hot even though we had finished eating our meal. Too goood that I have to mentioned it again. It was definitely tastes better and bigger compared to the one at Pudu, KL.
I will definitely coming back for more of this coconut chicken soup (RM19/coconut)! It was really big enough to be share for 2pax.

Another signature dish from them was this Signature Water Spinach 招牌翁菜 (RM 19). The price is definitely affordable if you know how expensive is the small shrimps nowadays. You will definitely love this if you love small shrimps, 虾米! Look at how generous the amount of fried small shrimps topping on top of the vegetable. Sooo good to go with the vegetables, very fragrant yummm..

Next was their own homemade signature fried beancurd 招牌炸豆腐 (RM 15), the minimum order is 6 pieces. This dish was really good, soo fragrant yumm... No wonder I saw this dish appeared at almost every table, everyone is ordering this ! No doubt it is really good.
We ordered steam red tilapia fish with lime sauce (RM 52.80/based on kg). The fish was really big and fresh. They served the fish above 2 lighted candles, therefore, it was still hot while we eat. Yumm...

Another favourite of mine was this salty shrimp pork belly 咸虾花腩 (RM 28). I would say some people might like it and some people might does not like it. If you love it, you will love it, if you do not love it then you will not love it. No middle lane. Hahahhaa. I definitely love thissss... sooo good. The flavour wise was hard to describe, it was like a bit salty but the pineapples in it balanced the taste and flavour out.

Next up was the salt and pepper cuttle fish 椒盐苏东 (RM 40/based on kg). It was very flavourful. The cuttle fish might be a little rubbery but still tastes good.

On my second visits, we ordered the Vietnamese-style steam red tilapia fish 越南蒸红非洲鱼. The flavour was quite good, the curry was in creamier version than the normal curry fish. The fish was big and fresh too. Very yummm.
The pricing wise is quite reasonable and affordable.

It is always full house on weekend nights so remember to call them to make reservation if you are going on a weekend night. Day time might not be so crowded, so should be fine.

We went on a following Sunday morning too after the weekend night dinner. It was less crowded at 12pm noon but if you came later at 1pm noon, the coconut chicken soup might not be available as they are not cook enough hours, therefore, cannot be serve yet. They told us that the coconut chicken soup will only be ready at 3pm noon. Do not come at the wrong timing if you are here for the coconut chicken soup. You might have a little disappointed then.

We still managed to have the coconut chicken soup during our 12pm noon visits but I noticed that the coconut chicken soup served that time was not that super piping hot like what I had during my last visit on a weekend night. It was not that hot but it was still hot, do you get what I mean? Hahhahaha..
The foods here were full of "wok hei", very flavourful. Quite satisfy with the dining here.
