Backdoor Bodega is a hidden speakeasy bar behind an actual clothing store "The Swagger Salon". It started operation in November 2016. It offers a comfortable yet casual experience with world class mixology right in the heart of Penang. It was the first ever bar which has a ranking of 52 in the Top 100 Asia's Best Bars in 2022, therefore, been recognised as one of the city's top cocktail bars.
Backdoor Bodega always has the ever-changing menu for their specialty cocktails which are unique to Penang. The cocktails are created using locally-sourced ingredients like belacan, rojak, ulam, Penang-made soy sauce, nutmeg fruits and etc by their well-talented self-taught bartenders.
We went early before the night starts, therefore, we do not need to queue to be seated at the counter. Snack was served once we were seated while looking at the menu, we were spoilt with choices.
From alcoholic cocktails to non-alcoholic drinks were more to choose from.
Most of the drinks are inspired from the city of Penang. Interesting yet special.

Love that Rojak cocktail a lot ! So surreal like I was drinking a bowl of rojak, how smart are they to mix up with the shrimp paste, tamarind and fritters! Soo goood!

We were still standing strong after a few glasses of cocktails. A great night well spent with the hubbs:)
