Shodoshima Island is known as a little soy sauce island. There are lots of soy sauce brewery around every corner of this island. Many olive trees are seen throughout the whole island too.
Other than visiting the soy sauce brewery and olive farm, we went to Kankakei Gorge 寒霞渓峡谷 as well. The Kankakei Gorge with ropeway is one of the Japan's top 3 most beautiful Gorge !
We took Shodoshima Olive bus 小豆岛橄榄巴士 to Kusakabe-honmachi bus station 草壁本町巴士站. Then change to another bus to Kountei cableway station 紅雲停缆车站, for 300yen/person/way. The best thing was we had the whole bus and cable car all to ourselves.
Kountei cableway station 紅雲停缆车站
This gorge has a 317m long cableway that link from the Kountei station 紅雲停缆车站 to the mountain top, Sancho station. The journey only took 5mins.
Besides, cars can also travel up directly to the mountain top. If you are more into adventurous challenging side, then you can get yourself into their 1-hour hiking package. It is one of the best option too, as you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the nature while hiking. Beautiful forest, flowers and large rocks formed from volcanic lava. If you ever visits here around the autumn season, for sure the view here are even more spectacular beautiful.
The autumn season here normally falls on the November month. The Kankakei Gorge Ropeway is well known in Japan for its beautiful view during the cable car ride where you can enjoy the view of the sky, sea, islands and gorge all at once.
The Kankakei Gorge mountain top has the highest point at 612m. It is basically can view most part of the whole Shodoshima Island. There are restaurant, souvenir shop and 4 observatory points on top of the mountain. The washroom area was decorated so beautifully with lots of plants and flowers.

We did not take our lunch yet and plan to have our lunch at the restaurant here as most of the restaurants at the village area were closed. However, the restaurant here was closed too after our visitation to the 3 observatory viewpoints. Hungry die us.
The restaurant here serves quite an extensive range of foods like olive beef burger, ice-cream, croquettes, pork burger, fries, udon, curry bread, somen, soda water and etc. The olive beef burger set attracted me the most as well as the curry bread and croquettes. A bit sad, did not manage to try on some of their local food produces.

Souvenir shop sells lots of local products like olive skin care products, soy sauce, cooking sauces, pasta made from olive, olive merchandise and etc.
We bought some local products and snacks. Then we took cable car down. No tourists at all, maybe it is not the peak season for now. So good to have the whole cable car to ourselves.
For return bus, we took the same local bus back to the station too, in which we had to pay for 300yen/person/way. It is because the Shodoshima olive bus (which covers in the 2 days Kagawa mini rail pass) is not operating for this route during winter season. Then we changed to the local Shodoshima Olive bus back to our hotel.
Round-trip ropeway ticket: 1970円/adult
Access: Took Azukijima olive bus 小豆岛橄榄巴士 to Kusakabe-honmachi bus station 草壁本町巴士站 (free included in the Kagawa rail pass). Then, change to another Kankakei ropeway local bus to Kountei ropeway station 紅雲停缆车站 (300 yen/way/person).
